In considering how I may monitor and evaluate my two goals, the first endeavor of a class blog would be an on-going monitoring and maybe evaluating after a period of time to see if students are utilizing it in a effective manner. My second goal would be monitored according to how many pertinent blogs I can garner. The evaluation comes in with going forward with the blogs I have found or looking for new blogs. I would take a step back and look at the information I have gleaned and how useful it is. This monitoring and evaluating rounds out my GAME PLAN.

ReplyDeleteI see that you have a very well set up goal. I think to start your own class blog is a good way to integrate the National Education Standards for Teacher (NETS-T).
I think that is a pretty specifc goal that involves many or allof them. Have you thought about how many of these standards and indicators you will be able to cover freely with no problem?and how many of those you will need to put more effort to fullfill?
Raquel,
ReplyDeleteI try to incorporate as many technological tools as I can in the classroom. As a matter of fact my students work twice a week with an excellent on-line reading comprehension program. It is really expensive but it allows them to increase their reading scores and I love it! I recently become the power point queen with my lessons and what I would like to work on more is creating authentic problems that my students could use the internet to come up with solutions for.

ReplyDeleteAs a third grade teacher, I look up to high school teachers being able to more high level research and collaboration using the Internet and other technology tools. Several setbacks prevented me from actually using a blog with my students this year, but I am now fully ready to implement my plan next year. The planning time that our courses help us make time for is what inspires me to keep trying to use technology more. Using a wiki or blog with your students would be a great way for you and your students to learn more about technology and I agree that the monitoring and evaluating stages are just as important as the plan itself!

ReplyDeleteHave you tried to use audacity? I use this program to help my students with their intonation and reading frequency.
In your case you can integrate it to reading comprehension by asking your students to give you an oral summary of the story they are reading during that time.
I always like to ask my students to write before recording their voices. In this case your students will need their summaries before starting the recording. This program is very neat and students love to work with it and you will like it too.
